About the Organization
What is Nuestras Raíces Inc., and what does the name mean? “Nuestras Raíces” is Spanish for “Our Roots.” Nuestras Raíces Inc. is a Baltimore-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating, promoting, and preserving the richness and diversity of Latino and Hispanic culture, art, and heritage throughout the Baltimore metropolitan region. Nuestras Raíces Inc. The name reflects the organization’s deep commitment to helping the Latino community stay connected to their cultural identity and traditions.
Nuestras Raíces was founded by Angelo Solera on February 19, 2019, born from a powerful belief that Baltimore’s Latino community deserves more than recognition; it deserves a home. Nuestras Raíces, Inc., Angelo Solera, continues to serve as the CEO and driving force behind the organization’s mission and growth.

Casa de la Cultura is Maryland’s only Latino educational and cultural center, Nuestras Raíces Inc., and it serves as the physical home base for Nuestras Raíces Inc. It is the space where the organization’s youth programs, arts education, and cultural initiatives are housed and delivered. The two entities operate together under the same roof at 3403 Gough Street in Baltimore.

The organization is guided by three core values:

  • Inclusion — Celebrating the diversity of Baltimore’s Latino and Hispanic community by creating welcoming spaces where every person feels a sense of belonging, representation, and cultural pride.
  • Empowerment — Providing Baltimore’s Latino community with the education, mentorship, resources, and support needed to thrive individually, culturally, and collectively across the Baltimore metropolitan region.
  • Cultural Pride — Preserving and promoting the richness of Latino and Hispanic culture, heritage, and traditions throughout Maryland through events, education, art, and community at Casa de la Cultura and beyond.

The organization is located at 3403 Gough Street, 2nd Floor, Baltimore, Maryland 21224, in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. The office is situated in the Casa de la Cultura building and is accessible during regular business hours.

Casa de la Cultura offers youth programs rooted in Latin American arts, culture, and heritage. Through music, dance, capoeira, and cultural education, the organization empowers young people to explore their identity, build confidence, and strengthen community bonds. Currently, there are four main programs:

  1. Cultural Youth Program
  2. Capoeira Program
  3. Classical Guitar Program
  4. Youth Soccer Program (launched in 2026)
Through hands-on workshops in dance, music, and visual arts, students connect with their roots while developing confidence and self-expression. Each activity is designed to celebrate heritage and empower young people to see themselves as carriers of culture and community.
Capoeira is a powerful Afro-Brazilian art form that weaves together martial arts, music, dance, and rich cultural history into one transformative experience. The Capoeira program introduces participants of all ages and skill levels to the authentic movements, rhythms, and cultural stories that have shaped this centuries-old tradition. The program focuses not only on physical skills but also on building cultural awareness and community pride.
What will students learn in the Classical Guitar Program?
The Classical Guitar Program introduces young students to the rich and beautiful musical traditions of Latin American and Spanish classical guitar. Students are guided by experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing the depth and beauty of classical guitar with the next generation of Latino musicians and artists. Beyond technique, students also learn about the cultural and historical significance of the music they perform.
The Soccer Program at Nuestras Raíces Inc. is launching in 2026 and is designed to give Latino youth a positive and empowering space to stay active, grow as individuals, and thrive as a team. The program is open to youth of all skill levels and is built on the belief that every child deserves access to quality programming that nurtures their physical, social, and personal development.
Yes. The Casa de la Cultura’s Free Youth Programs empower Latino youth through free arts, music, and sports programs that build lasting community pride. Donations to the organization help sustain these free offerings.
