Youth Programs
Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and feel like they belong. At Casa de la Cultura, a program of Nuestras Raíces Inc., we believe that culture is a powerful tool for building confidence, community, and opportunity. Our free, bilingual, year-round youth programs serve Baltimore’s Latino and immigrant families, giving young people a safe and welcoming space to explore who they are, celebrate where they come from, and imagine where they’re going. From arts and music to sports and educational field trips, we’re here to make sure no child is left behind, regardless of their family’s income, immigration status, or background.

How Your Donation Makes a Difference
Running free programs takes real resources — and we rely on the support of our community to make it possible. Your donation directly funds program supplies, transportation for field trips, instructor stipends, and the operational costs that keep our doors open five days a week. Every dollar you give ensures that another child in Baltimore gets the enrichment, belonging, and joy that every young person deserves. Whether you give $10 or $1,000, you are investing in the next generation of Baltimore’s Latino community. Help us keep these programs free, accessible, and thriving. Donate today.
Overview
The Challenge Facing Baltimore’s Latino Youth
Baltimore’s Latino and immigrant communities face significant barriers when it comes to accessing quality cultural and educational enrichment. Many families cannot afford extracurricular programs, summer camps, or museum trips. Language barriers and a lack of culturally relevant spaces leave children feeling isolated and unseen. Without safe, affirming environments to explore their identity, young people are more vulnerable to disengagement from school, community, and themselves.
Casa de la Cultura was built as a direct response to these gaps. Our youth programs are 100% free to participating families, and they are built around the lived experiences, languages, and traditions of Baltimore’s Latino community.
Our programs include:
- Free bilingual arts and music workshops
- Cultural celebrations and heritage activities
- Hands-on sports and physical wellness programming
- Educational field trips to museums, parks, and cultural institutions
- Year-round programming, not just summers
- A safe, inclusive, Spanish-friendly environment for all youth

Overview
The Latino Culture Hub, powered by Nuestras Raíces Inc., is a bold and heart-driven initiative dedicated to educating, promoting, and preserving the richness and diversity of Latino culture in Baltimore and across the Maryland metropolitan region. Founded by Angelo Solera on February 19, 2019, Nuestras Raíces Inc. is a community-based 501(c)(3) Hispanic/Latino cultural organization with a mission deeply rooted in celebrating Latino heritage and ensuring it remains a vital part of Baltimore’s cultural fabric.
The Latino Culture Hub is more than a program; it is a living, breathing home for Latino identity. It is where traditions are taught, where artists are uplifted, where elders share their stories, and where the next generation grows up proud of who they are and where they come from. Through Casa de la Cultura, Maryland’s first and only Latino educational and cultural empowerment center, the organization provides a space where members of the Latino community, representing 25 different nations, can reconnect with their roots, culture, and sense of belonging.
Your support helps keep this mission alive, growing, and accessible to every Latino family in our community.
Here is what your donation directly supports:
- Cultural Education Programs — Hands-on workshops, youth mentoring sessions, guitar classes, and arts programs that connect the next generation to their Latino roots
- Performing Arts & Cultural Events — Live folkloric dance productions, theater performances, music showcases, and art exhibitions that celebrate the full diversity of Latino artistic heritage
- Fiesta Baltimore & The Parade of Latin American Nations — Baltimore’s premier annual Latino cultural festival, honoring the traditions and flags of over 20 Latin American nations in a powerful community celebration
- Casa de la Cultura — The maintenance and growth of Maryland’s only Latino educational and cultural empowering center, serving as a permanent and welcoming home for the community
- Preservation of Heritage & Oral Histories — Digital archives, cultural exhibitions, and storytelling initiatives that ensure the traditions, languages, and histories of Latino communities are never forgotten
- Community Outreach & Empowerment — Grassroots outreach programs that connect Baltimore’s Latino families with cultural resources, professional support, and a strong, united sense of community pride
Challenge
The Latino community in Baltimore is resilient, vibrant, and deeply rooted, but preserving and promoting a living culture requires consistent resources, dedicated spaces, and unwavering community support. Without them, traditions fade, voices go unheard, and generations grow up disconnected from the heritage that defines them.
Many members of Baltimore’s Latino community, representing people from 25 different nations, often feel detached from their home countries. When adjusting to American culture, they frequently risk losing their own — their language, their traditions, and their sense of cultural identity. Casa de la Cultura, the Latino Culture Hub, exists precisely to close that gap, but the work is far from finished.
In the face of a difficult and uncertain political climate, Angelo Solera and the Nuestras Raíces team have chosen to stand strong — feeling more emboldened than ever to showcase Latino culture and prove that the community is here, united, and unwilling to be made invisible. That courage demands community backing.
Funding cultural programming, maintaining Casa de la Cultura, organizing large-scale events like Fiesta Baltimore, and reaching underserved Latino families across the region all require financial investment that goes beyond what grants and partnerships alone can cover. This is where you come in.
Your donation bridges the gap between what this community deserves and what is currently possible. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a direct investment in the dignity, visibility, and future of Latino culture in Baltimore.

Angelo Solera, founder and executive director of Nuestras Raíces, has spoken about the emotional weight the community carries right now, yet he and his organization are choosing to stand strong, feeling even more emboldened to showcase their culture and declare that the Latino community in Baltimore is here, strong, and united.
